About the Club

Sunrise Rotary Club was chartered by Rotary International on June 13, 1990.

Rotary is an organization of business and professional leaders united worldwide, who provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, and help build goodwill and peace in the world.

Our membership is made up of individuals from many professions in the South Bend, Mishawaka and Granger IN community. The club has less than fifty members, which allows for networking opportunities and developing lasting friendships. Our weekly meetings include a business agenda, social time, and speakers presenting topics of interest. Our club  participates on Community, Club, Vocational, and International service projects.

COMMUNITY SERVICE

Rotarians improve the quality of life in their community.  One example of our many opportunities includes:

 Family Christmas

Working with area elementary schools, the club identifies underprivileged families with children. On one special morning during the holiday season we provide needed clothing and toys, then enjoy a special holiday meal together at a local restaurant.

VOCATIONAL SERVICE

Rotarians represent their professions and promote high ethical standards in their respective workplaces. One key event includes:

 The Samaritan Awards

Collaborating with Saint Mary’s College, Bethel College and the Samaritan Counseling Center , the club identifies and recognizes area businesses who promote healthy work/family balances.

INTERNATIONAL SERVICE

Rotarians advance international understanding, goodwill, and peace through support of humanitarian efforts worldwide.  A favorite program among many events includes:

 Youth Exchange Program

Lasting 7-9 months, club members host high school students during an academic year. The club also identifies and sponsors an out-bound student.

CLUB SERVICE

Rotarians promote fellowship and build  long lasting friendships and leadership skills through weekly meetings and special events which include:

 Fellowship

Club members, their families and guests celebrate the seasons with activates which may include a hayride (fall), holiday party (winter), theater excursion (spring) and picnic (summer).
